Superfood quick tip: Blueberries

imagesCAFG7B41

There has been lots of talk about superfoods and their benefits to our diets.  Foods make it to the superfood category by packing a huge vitamin and nutrient punch in a small serving.  We’ve already looked at avocados and the awesomeness they provide.  This time we’ll move on down the alphabet and look at blueberries.

Blueberries are nature’s little bite sized vitamins.  A full cup of blueberries only has 84 calories and 14% of your daily fiber needed and 24% of your Vitamin C.  The huge amount of antioxidants can help lower blood pressure, boost metabolism, and even help lower your cholesterol.  The natural sugar it contains will give you a little energy boost with nothing unnatural.  It’s pretty amazing that such a little berry can do so much!

So how can you can you get more of this superfood in your diet?  Easy!  Add it to oatmeal in the morning or make a delicious smoothie like this Clean Blueberry Smoothie.  Both these are easy breakfasts ready in less than 5 minutes.  Grab a handful for a morning snack or add them to a salad at lunch.  A blueberry smoothie makes an ideal afternoon snack too.

Grab a handful of blueberries and enjoy a delicious superfood!
